In a bid to bolster its presence in the smart-driving sector, Nio is set to introduce its Navigate on Pilot Plus (NOP+) driver-assist feature to nearly 230,000 vehicles starting April 30. This move marks a significant advancement in urban smart driving technology, with Nio aiming to enhance user experience and safety.
William Li, Nio’s founder, chairman, and CEO, unveiled the rollout plan at a recent event, highlighting NOP+’s integration with the NT 2.0 platform. Li emphasized that this deployment would establish the largest user base for city smart driving in China, building on the success of the NT 2.0 platform, which has already seen 228,935 units delivered as of March’s end.
NOP+ is an evolution of Nio’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), succeeding the highway-focused NOP. The new feature, available in 726 cities across China, has been rigorously validated on approximately 1.21 million kilometers of roads, ensuring robust performance on both urban and highway settings.
Li outlined ambitious goals for NOP+, envisioning it contributing to 80 percent of driving time for enabled vehicles by 2025. He emphasized that achieving this milestone would demonstrate the feature’s utility and user adoption. Additionally, Nio aims to make smart driving 10 times safer than human driving by 2025, building on its current safety rating of 6.26 times.
The rollout of NOP+ represents a significant step in Nio’s commitment to advancing smart driving technology, with a focus on enhancing user convenience and safety. The company’s innovative approach to driver assistance is set to redefine the driving experience for Nio vehicle owners, setting a new standard for smart driving in China and beyond.
