Nio has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Tuhu Car Inc, China’s largest independent auto service platform, to expand vehicle lifecycle services and enhance user engagement, the companies said.
The collaboration will initially focus on the core Nio brand, excluding its sub-brands Onvo and Firefly. Both parties aim to integrate resources across online and offline channels to provide full-lifecycle services covering vehicle maintenance, mobility, and broader lifestyle needs.
The companies said the partnership represents an effort to combine Nio’s premium electric vehicle ecosystem with Tuhu’s extensive aftermarket service network, which includes more than 150 million registered users.
“The partnership represents an exploration of collaborative innovation between a premium EV brand and an auto aftermarket platform,” Nio said in a statement.
Under the agreement, Nio and Tuhu will develop shared service offerings and exclusive user benefits, with a focus on improving convenience in areas such as travel and vehicle ownership. The companies also plan to extend services beyond traditional automotive needs into lifestyle-oriented offerings.
“The two parties will jointly advance a new model of cross-field integration between the car-life service ecosystem and the auto brand’s user ecosystem to achieve synergy across online and offline resources,” Nio added.
The move comes as Nio continues to strengthen its market position following improved financial performance and rising deliveries. The company is expected to deliver its 80,000th unit of the third-generation ES8 SUV this week, according to Yang Bo, Nio’s head of user operations.
Nio delivered its 70,000th ES8 unit on February 27, indicating sustained demand for the model. The company recently reported its first-ever quarterly profit, marking a milestone in its financial development.
The partnership with Tuhu underscores a broader trend among automakers to expand into service ecosystems, leveraging partnerships to enhance customer retention and create additional revenue streams beyond vehicle sales.
