Nio has formed a strategic partnership with Mastercard to improve vehicle-related payment services for its users outside of China. The collaboration was announced today in Shanghai, where Nio’s global headquarters is based. The two companies will focus on areas such as user value-added services, payment innovation, data services, consulting, joint marketing, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts.

The partnership will offer Mastercard cardholders exclusive benefits including charging, battery swap, maintenance, car rental, and business travel VIP services. Additionally, the companies plan to explore in-vehicle payment solutions for Nio users, enabling seamless transactions for services such as charging, parking, and shopping, aiming to improve the overall user experience.

“We believe this collaboration will help us enhance the convenience and efficiency of the travel experience for users around the world,” said Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong.

Mastercard’s Global Executive Vice President, Chang Qing, highlighted that the partnership is expected to drive innovation and help both companies strengthen their presence in their respective sectors. This collaboration aligns with Nio’s ongoing international expansion efforts, which include a growing presence in Europe and recent moves into the Middle East and North Africa regions.
