In the future, NIO battery swap station will be more compatible for other electric vehicle brands. NIO may also build dedicated swap stations for other brands, co-founder and company president Qin Lihong said via local media outlet The Paper.
NIO itself just held its second NIO Power Day event today, revealing the company’s latest plans for a third-generation battery swap station.
The high demand made NIO consider the possibility of building a battery swap station for another electric vehicle brand. It does so to serve the nearest owner, which can also significantly reduce costs, Qin said, according to The Paper.
In places where the demand for a particular brand is insufficient, NIO can build stations that can meet the battery swapping needs of multiple brands, Qin said.
At today’s NIO Power Day, Qin teased the third-generation battery swap station, with the advantages of larger capacity and more flexible layout.
NIO’s third generation battery swap station is nearing the end of development and is being tested and will be detailed at the end of the year or early next year
