Nio Launches New Edition of ES6 on the NT 2.0 Platform in China

Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has introduced an upgraded version of its popular ES6 model in China. The ES6, which has been converted to the new NT 2.0 platform, has garnered significant success in the Chinese market.

Earlier this year, Nio announced its plan to phase out the first-generation models based on the NT 1.0 platform. This decision affects the 2022 model year vehicles, including the ES8, ES6, and EC6. The new models based on the NT 2.0 platform include the sedans ET5 and ET7, the recently introduced coupe SUV EC7, the updated large SUV ES8, and the smaller SUV ES7, which has already commenced deliveries in Europe under the name EL7.

The latest iteration of the Nio ES6 is priced from 368,000 yuan (approximately 48,500 euros) in China, making it slightly more affordable than its predecessor. Customers can choose from two battery options: 75 kWh and 100 kWh, providing ranges of 490 kilometers and 625 kilometers, respectively, based on Chinese standards. Nio also plans to release a 150 kWh semi-solid battery pack in July, offering an extended range of 930 kilometers.

In recent months, Nio experienced a decline in sales as potential buyers eagerly awaited the arrival of the new ES6, which accounts for 45 percent of the company’s overall sales.

As demonstrated during Nio’s European launch last year, the company emphasizes robust communication with its customers through its dedicated app and various other engagement and lifestyle offerings. In China, Nio’s app has already revealed that production of the new ES6 has commenced, and deliveries will commence on May 25th.

With the launch of the upgraded ES6 on the NT 2.0 platform, Nio aims to further strengthen its position in the Chinese electric vehicle market and meet the evolving demands of its discerning customer base.
