Nio has installed a total of ten battery swapping stations in Europe, with plans to add seven more in the near future. These stations are located in Norway, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

In Germany, the stations can be found in Hilden and the Sortimo charging park in Zusmarshausen, with another set to open in Berlin soon. In Sweden, the stations are located in Gothenburg and Stockholm, and in Norway, there are stations near Oslo and Lillehammer.

The Netherlands also has three Nio battery swapping stations, with the tenth station recently opening in Denhollen at the Hogenhoorn 1 car park. In addition to the seven stations currently in the works, there are plans to open stations in Copenhagen and additional locations in the Netherlands and Norway. However, no further details on these locations have been announced at this time.

Nio plans to have a total of 120 battery swapping stations across Europe by the end of 2023. In Germany, the company aims to install its stations at up to 20 EnBW fast-charging locations, starting with the Power Swap Stations (PSS) in Herleshausen and Großburgwedel.

However, it has not yet been determined which other locations will receive the stations. Nio has already established local manufacturing in Europe, with a production facility in Hungary that opened in September 2022 and has already produced Germany’s first Nio battery swapping station.

In China, Nio’s battery swapping network is set to expand to over 1,700 locations by 2023, with 1,294 stations already in operation as of December 30, 2022. In 2019, the company announced its plans for the network in northern China, and in August 2022, it began testing battery swapping stations that can feed power back into the grid.
