Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has recently started deliveries of its new EC7 model in China, much earlier than originally planned. The EC7, an all-electric SUV coupe, comes with a 75 kWh or 100 kWh battery, priced between 488,000 and 578,000 yuan ($75,766) respectively, or lower if the battery is rented. The vehicle boasts a 480 kW drive power, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
Despite the initial success of the EC7 in China, it is not clear if Nio plans to bring the vehicle to Europe. The manufacturer has been concentrating its efforts on its home market and has yet to make a significant impact in the European EV market. Nio has, however, been expanding its reach in China with a series of new models and is set to release its redesigned ES8 model next month.
Nio’s decision to move up the EC7 delivery date may be a strategic move to boost the company’s sales figures this quarter. Nio has been facing a decline in sales since February, and the early delivery of the EC7 may help to mitigate the damage. It is not yet known how many vehicles have been delivered to customers so far.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding the launch of the EC7 in Europe, Nio’s new NT2.0 platform, on which the EC7 and ES8 models are based, could provide the company with an opportunity to enter the European market with a new range of vehicles. With the growing demand for EVs in Europe and Nio’s expertise in developing high-performance electric vehicles, the company may have a promising future in the region.
