Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Nio (NYSE: NIO) marked a significant milestone in May with record deliveries, despite not introducing any all-new models so far this year, except for minor facelifts.
According to data released by the company, Nio delivered a record 20,544 vehicles in May, surpassing the previous high of 20,462 vehicles delivered in July 2023.

This represents a substantial increase of 233.78 percent from the 6,155 vehicles delivered in May last year, and a notable 31.52 percent rise from the 15,620 deliveries in April.
Nio’s SUV lineup contributed significantly to the milestone, with 12,164 vehicles delivered in May, up 37.96 percent from 8,817 in April. Meanwhile, its sedan models saw deliveries of 8,380, marking a 23.18 percent increase from 6,803 in April.

The company currently offers eight models for sale, including the ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring, with the first five being SUVs and the last three sedans. Deliveries of the ET9 sedan, unveiled in December last year, are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
During the first five months of the year, Nio’s SUV models achieved delivery figures of 38,790, up 166.8 percent year-on-year, accounting for 58.58 percent of total deliveries. Meanwhile, sedan models contributed 27,427 deliveries, down 6.44 percent year-on-year, making up 41.42 percent of total deliveries.
By the end of May, Nio’s cumulative deliveries since inception reached 515,811 vehicles, solidifying its position as a major player in the EV market.
