Nikola has announced the retirement of three members of its Board of Directors. Gerrit Marx, Lynn Forester de Rothschild, and Mark Russell will retire from their positions at the company’s annual meeting on June 7, 2023.
Nikola’s chairman, Steve Girsky, expressed gratitude for the invaluable contributions made by the retiring board members to the company’s growth over the years. As the company evolves, Girsky emphasized that the size and composition of the board would evolve to meet the needs of Nikola’s core business units of zero-emission trucking and energy infrastructure solutions.
Gerrit Marx, CEO of Iveco Group, has been a member of Nikola’s Board of Directors since September 2019. Marx expressed pride in serving on the board and helping Nikola make key international decisions as they scaled up their battery-electric and hydrogen-electric truck offerings.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a co-founder of Inclusive Capital Partners, joined the board in February 2022. Rothschild’s passion for a healthier planet and its inhabitants aligns with Nikola’s mission, and she expressed pride in the company’s achievements and the team and board in place.
Mark Russell served as Nikola’s CEO before retiring in 2022, having joined the company as President in 2019. Russell expressed a strong desire to see a zero-emissions future for his children and grandchildren and pledged his continued support for Nikola’s mission from the sidelines.
