Tesla has introduced a new feature to simplify Supercharger access for owners towing trailers or other equipment, reflecting the company’s recent commitment to improving the experience for drivers using its Trailer Mode.

The update, part of Tesla’s 2024.44 software release, prioritizes trailer-friendly Supercharger locations when Trailer Mode is activated. For users not in Trailer Mode, the interface also allows quick identification of compatible charging stations with a single tap. Tesla Charging shared a preview of the functionality on X, highlighting the streamlined navigation tailored for towing scenarios.

The feature aligns with Tesla’s broader efforts to expand and optimize its Supercharger network for diverse use cases. North American Charging Director Max de Zegher added that “Please Use Last” signage at pull-through stations encourages non-towing drivers to reserve these spots for those towing trailers unless no alternatives are available.

Tesla has been actively increasing the number of pull-through Supercharger stalls, a focus it first teased in September. Alongside these efforts, the company continues to deploy its V4 Superchargers globally, boasting charging speeds of up to 500kW for regular vehicles and up to 1.2MW for the Tesla Semi.

In the third quarter of 2024, Tesla opened 2,800 new Supercharger stalls—a 23% increase year-over-year. The network delivered 1.4 terawatt-hours of energy during the same period, marking a 27% rise compared to the previous year, underscoring Tesla’s rapid expansion and innovation in EV infrastructure.
