Li Auto’s second all-electric SUV, the Li i6, has been included in China’s latest list of new energy vehicles (NEVs) eligible for purchase tax exemptions, a key regulatory step ahead of the model’s planned market debut in September.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Li i6 will come with a single battery option rated at 87.3 kWh and weighing either 622.8 or 620.0 kilograms, depending on configuration. The vehicle will offer three range variants under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC): 660 km, 710 km, and 720 km.

The five-seat, two-row electric SUV measures 4,950 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Both single-motor and dual-motor versions will be produced at Li Auto’s facilities in Beijing and Changzhou. While the MIIT notice did not list the battery suppliers, a prior regulatory filing identified CATL and Sunwoda as contributors.

Li Auto founder and CEO Li Xiang confirmed the vehicle’s positioning during a June announcement on social media. “We aim to provide families considering the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, or Audi Q5 with an additional purchasing option,” Li said on Weibo, highlighting the model’s role in expanding the company’s target audience.

Li Auto is currently best known for its extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) in the L-series, including the L6, L7, L8, and L9 SUVs.
