Moustache Bikes Unveils Innovative E-Bike “J” Series, Offering Versatility and French Craftsmanship

Moustache Bikes, a burgeoning French e-bike manufacturer, is making waves with its latest creation, simply named the “J” series. This innovative e-bike series challenges conventions by offering a versatile electric bicycle designed to excel in a range of riding scenarios. Moustache has further fine-tuned the “J” series into three distinct models, each catering to specific riding preferences. Let’s delve into the details.

Moustache describes the “J” series as an endeavour to “push the limits of gravity casting,” and this ambition is evident in the bike’s unique frame design. It’s a rare sight to encounter a mountain bike with a step-through frame, especially one that boasts full suspension. Yet, this is precisely what the Moustache J brings to the table. Overcoming a perceived weakness in the middle of the frame through clever engineering, the J also introduces an innovative suspension setup, with the linkage positioned just above the bottom bracket. This arrangement integrates the motor and pedals into the bike’s rear end.

The key advantage of this design, according to Moustache, is the elimination of variations in chain or belt tension during suspension strokes. This results in enhanced pedalling efficiency and increased component longevity, as derailleurs no longer need to adjust to varying terrains. Moustache is also proud to offer customizability for the J series through its newly launched online bike builder. This platform enables buyers to select accessories while dynamically viewing price adjustments as they make their choices.

Notably, Moustache takes great pride in the fact that a substantial portion of the bike, including its components, is manufactured in France. The brand underscores its commitment to local production by sourcing components from French partner companies, including the use of solvent-free paint in the models.

Now, let’s explore the three distinct configurations within the Moustache J series. Firstly, the “J. On” is primarily tailored for on-road use, powered by the Bosch Performance line motor generating 75 Newton-meters of torque. It offers flexibility with options for either a 500-watt-hour or 600-watt-hour battery pack and compatibility with the 250-watt-hour PowerMore range-extender. The “J. On” features a 100mm SR Suntour Mobie fork and an Enviolo TR CVT system coupled with a Gates Carbon Drive belt.

Next up, the “Moustache J. All” is positioned as the “SUV of the e-bike world.” It’s engineered for versatility, equipped with off-road-ready tires and enhanced suspension components for rugged terrains. Unlike its sibling, it opts for a conventional Shimano CUES 11-speed derailleur drivetrain.

Finally, the “Moustache J. Off” adopts the guise of a mountain bike suitable for commuting. It boasts a 130mm Marzocchi Bomber front fork and MTB-focused Maxxis Rekon tires. Similar to the “J. All,” it employs a Shimano CUES drivetrain but includes a wide-ratio rear cassette with an 11×50-tooth sprocket. Additionally, it features 29-inch wheels, distinguishing itself from the 27.5-inch wheels found on the other two models.
