Motiv Power Systems, an American manufacturer of battery-electric commercial vehicle chassis, has announced a new vehicle order from Cintas for 30 additional battery-electric delivery vans. This decision follows a successful pilot test of seven Motiv-powered vehicles across three US states in 2022. The new order of 30 Motiv trucks will be deployed on existing Cintas routes, bringing the number of Motiv-powered EVs in the Cintas fleet to 37 vehicles driving daily routes across Michigan, New York, and California.
The announcement comes just a week after Motiv introduced the new generation of their electric truck chassis, built in cooperation with Nidec for the drive system. According to the manufacturer, the medium-duty electric truck can reach ranges of up to 200 miles, with an efficiency that surpasses that of combustion engine vehicles.

“We’re proud to support Cintas in every area of the relationship, whether it’s procuring funding for vehicles, meeting with the field team for ongoing training and program improvements, driving operational cost savings and ultimately freeing their fleet from fossil fuels,” said Tim Krauskopf, CEO of Motiv Power Systems. The company has helped Cintas reduce its GHG emissions by 37 metric tonnes since the initial pilot programme.
This new order is a positive sign for the growth of the electric commercial vehicle market, as more companies are recognizing the benefits of transitioning to battery-electric vehicles for their fleets. By reducing their reliance on fossil fuels, companies can not only lower their carbon footprint but also reduce their operating costs in the long run.

As more companies follow in Cintas’ footsteps and invest in battery-electric vehicles, the demand for electric commercial vehicle manufacturers like Motiv will continue to grow. This is a promising development for the future of sustainable transportation and the fight against climate change.
