U.S.-based startup Monarch Tractor has announced its expansion into Europe with the establishment of Monarch Tractor Europe N.V., headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium. The company aims to bring its driver-optional electric tractor, the MK-V, to European markets and develop a regional manufacturing and research hub.
“With Monarch’s ongoing strategic growth journey, the expansion to Europe is a logical next step,” said CEO Praveen Penmetsa. He outlined plans for local manufacturing, a digital center of excellence, and a dedicated research and development hub in Flanders, signaling a comprehensive market entry strategy beyond sales.

The MK-V made its European debut in autumn 2023, showcased at Agritechnica in Hanover and other agricultural events. The tractor, equipped with autonomous features and advanced AI capabilities, received strong support from farmers during demonstrations in vineyards and orchards across Europe. “This milestone reflects our long-term engagement to serve the European market with solutions fulfilling the requirements of European farmers,” said Stéphane Jacobs, Managing Director of Europe.
Jacobs, formerly Transition Manager for Clean Power for Transport in Belgium, will lead Monarch’s European operations. His team is tasked with implementing a growth strategy tailored to local market needs. “Enthusiastic feedback from visitors at events like EIMA in Italy and Vinitech-Sifel in France confirms that we are on a promising path,” Jacobs added.

Monarch Tractor, which raised $133 million in a Series C financing round last year, has already delivered 400 units of the MK-V. The electric tractor features autonomous operation, including a shadow mode for synchronized tasks, and collects data for farm management via its AI-based platform, WingspanAI. Monarch views itself as not just a tractor manufacturer but as a provider of integrated farming solutions.
