Mitie, the British energy service provider, has achieved a significant milestone by adding the 6,000th electric vehicle (EV) to its fleet. With 73% of its fleet now running on electricity, the company is making rapid progress towards its goal of fully electrifying its fleet by the end of 2025. This means that nearly 6,850 vehicles are currently part of Mitie’s electric fleet.
Having already reached the 4,000th and 5,000th EV milestones earlier this year, Mitie continues to accelerate its efforts. The company began its fleet electrification journey in 2018 as part of its broader sustainability initiative, “Plan Zero,” aimed at achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2025. In 2022, Mitie reached the milestone of 35% electrification, ahead of its initial schedule.
“Reaching our 6,000th EV is a momentous achievement, and having added over 2,000 EVs to our fleet since the start of 2024, we are making rapid progress on our journey to reaching a zero-emission fleet,” said Peter Dickinson, Chief Legal Officer at Mitie.
Lilian Greenwood MP, Minister for the Future of Roads, also highlighted the government’s efforts to support the transition to zero-emission vehicles, noting, “We’ve extended our £120 million grant to help roll out more zero emission vans on our roads, as part of our £2.3 billion to support industry and consumers switch to EVs and make the transition a success.”
