MG, the British automaker, is preparing to introduce the eagerly anticipated top-tier variant of its MG4 model, known as the MG4 XPower. The grand unveiling of this hot-hatch sensation is scheduled to take place at the esteemed Goodwood event, alongside the showcasing of other notable MG vehicles, namely the Cyberster and the new EX4 concept car. Following this exclusive preview, the MG4 XPower is slated for a full market launch later this summer.
One of the most remarkable features of the MG4 XPower lies in its upgraded powertrain, capable of producing an impressive 429 bhp (equivalent to 423 hp) and an astounding 443 lb ft of torque. These figures more than double the current capabilities of the MG4 LR, solidifying the upcoming model’s position as the most powerful electric MG4 variant to date. With a mind-blowing acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in a mere 3.8 seconds, the MG4 XPower promises an exhilarating driving experience. Furthermore, the vehicle boasts a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h), underscoring its exceptional performance capabilities.

While the MG4 XPower maintains the same 61.7 kWh usable capacity battery found in the LR version, its range has been slightly compromised due to the substantial increase in performance. The upcoming model is expected to offer a range of 239 miles (384 km). Recharging the battery from 10% to 80% will take approximately 35 minutes when utilizing a 150 kW DC charger.
On the interior front, the MG4 XPower will bear resemblance to the regular Trophy trim, with the addition of luxurious Alcantara bucket seats and metal pedals. A notable inclusion is the “dynamic driving management” system, which provides drivers with lap times and a G-force meter. As for the exterior design, it remains uncertain whether the higher-specification model will sport more aggressive and sporty styling to complement its enhanced performance. Notably, in China, where the model is referred to as the MG Mulan Triumph edition, it flaunts a vivid green paint scheme and a wider, lower stance. It remains to be seen if these elements will be incorporated into the UK version.

Regarding pricing in the UK market, the MG4 XPower is expected to start at £36,495, excluding optional extras. This base price will include an exclusive “British Racing Green” paint finish, valued at £800. To provide context, the current MG4 model starts at £26,995, while the LR variant begins at £29,495.
In addition to the MG4 XPower, MG has also announced the forthcoming release of an Extended Range model, equipped with a 77 kWh battery, offering an official range of 323 miles (519 km). This alternative variant will feature a 245 bhp motor (equivalent to 241 hp), allowing for a respectable 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 6.5 seconds.
