Chinese regulatory filings have disclosed the MG4 Anxin Edition, a semi-solid-state battery variant of the compact electric hatchback.
The model swaps the lithium iron phosphate battery used in some MG4 trims for a manganese-based lithium-ion unit supplied by Suzhou QingTao Power Technology Co., Ltd. Technical specifications, including battery capacity and range, have not yet been released.
The Anxin Edition retains the MG4’s single front-mounted motor rated at up to 120 kW, matching the output of existing pre-sale models. Exterior styling remains consistent with current versions, including new headlamp clusters, a segmented lower intake with honeycomb decoration, aerodynamic side air channels, and an illuminated front badge. At the rear, the design continues to feature a full-width taillight with arrow-shaped elements.
The MG4 measures 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,551 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Wheel options include 16-inch or 17-inch sizes depending on trim. Inside, the car mirrors the pre-sale model’s layout with a two-spoke steering wheel, small digital instrument display, column-mounted gear selector, and a floating central touchscreen.
Pricing for MG4 models with semi-solid-state batteries is expected to be announced in September, with deliveries in China planned before the end of the year. The latest MG4 range opened for pre-orders on August 5 in four trims, priced between 73,800 yuan and 105,800 yuan ($10,100–$14,400).
