MG Reveals Interior of the 2024 Cyberster Electric Roadster Ahead of World Premiere

It has been an eagerly awaited two years since MG surprised the automotive world with the reveal of its cutting-edge Cyberster concept. While a glimpse of the production model was offered a few months ago, the SAIC-owned brand has now delighted enthusiasts by showcasing the interior of the electric roadster. As expected, the cabin design has undergone notable revisions compared to the striking concept car, which boasted an equally remarkable exterior.

The upcoming 2024 MG Cyberster sets itself apart as the latest addition to the electric vehicle lineup, featuring a sleek curved screen that seamlessly integrates the digital instrument cluster with the infotainment touchscreen. The center console, adorned with a few traditional controls, evokes a sense of familiarity, reminiscent of renowned models like the Chevrolet Corvette C7, the Lexus LC, or even the Jaguar F-Type. Notably, the gear selector buttons are prominently placed and positioned to the left of what seems to be a portrait-oriented display.

Upon closer inspection, one will observe the presence of three keys responsible for unlocking the distinctive butterfly doors and controlling the retractable roof. Furthermore, a pair of convenient cup holders can be found further down the console. Excitingly, the concept’s yoke-like steering wheel has been replaced with a flat-bottomed variant, boasting elegant aluminum spokes and paddles. Among the notable additions is a conspicuous red “Super” button, presumably enabling access to the vehicle’s sportiest settings, accompanied by another button adorned with a steering wheel icon, likely used for selecting the desired driving mode.

Positioned to the left of the steering wheel is the electric parking brake switch, while in the same vicinity, the driver has easy access to adjust the headlight height and open the hood. Overall, the cabin exudes an air of luxury, resembling a grand tourer rather than a traditional sports car. Premium leather with meticulously coordinated stitching can be observed throughout the interior, complemented by the presence of electrically operated seats.

Enthusiasts can anticipate MG’s forthcoming release of the Cyberster’s detailed technical specifications later this week, coinciding with its highly anticipated world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. According to a document published earlier this year by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), we already possess some insights. The two-seater EV measures 4535 millimeters (178.5 inches) in length, 1913 mm (75.3 in) in width, 1329 mm (52.3 in) in height, and boasts a wheelbase spanning 2690 mm (105.9 in).

The MIIT document discloses two power outputs for the Cyberster: 150 kW and 250 kW. Presumably, the former denotes a single-motor configuration, generating 201 horsepower in the base model, while the latter showcases a dual-motor setup, delivering an impressive 335 horsepower and equipping the roadster with all-wheel drive. However, reports from China suggest that the flagship variant may pack an astonishing 544 horsepower. MG appears to offer the vehicle with two battery options (64 kWh and 77 kWh) and has limited the top speed to 124 mph (200 km/h). As for weight, the MIIT specifications sheet indicates 1,985 kilograms (4,376 pounds).

In a concluding remark, it is worth noting that some individuals had hoped the production model would bear a different name, as the term “Cyberster” elicits associations with fictional cars from video games or movies.
