Mercedes-Benz has taken luxury to the next level with its latest all-electric SUV, the Maybach EQS680. This opulent SUV is a variant of the standard EQS and the latest in the line of Maybach models that offer high-end luxury and unparalleled comfort.
The Maybach EQS680 SUV takes inspiration from the GLS600, the last high-riding Maybach. The two-tone paint is available with a hand-drawn pinstripe, and the Mercedes three-pointed star graces the hood. The grille is a waterfall design, and tiny Maybach logos adorn the non-functional lower intakes, as well as the animated puddle lamps. The 21-inch wheels are standard, and the optional 22-inch wheels are a modification of the traditional monoblock design.
The cabin of the Maybach EQS680 SUV is where the Maybach badge shines through. The third row is removed, and two throne-like rear seats with calf massagers, heated shoulders, and an ottoman replace it. The fixed center console divides the seats, but opting for the First-Class Rear provides a larger console that connects to the front center console in a floating bridge design. The console also adds heated cupholders, four USB-C ports, two HDMI ports, and a housing for a tablet. Silver-plated champagne flutes and a removable refrigerator are available, making this SUV the ultimate luxury vehicle.

The Maybach EQS680 SUV has an impressive visual statement, including a puddle lamp that projects the Maybach logo onto the carpet. Two 11.6-inch displays on the front seatbacks allow access to the MBUX infotainment suite.
Mercedes-Benz has raised the bar with the Maybach EQS680 SUV, offering a unique focus on ultra-luxury that is unparalleled in the automotive industry. Despite the overall design of the EQS remaining unchanged, the Maybach badge makes a clear statement of what it stands for – pure luxury and uncompromising comfort.
This new model boasts a number of luxurious upgrades, starting with the standard Hyperscreen accessible to front-seat passengers, now featuring Maybach-specific skins. The digital details blend seamlessly with the EQS’s new material changes, which include Nappa leather as standard. The leather has been sustainably tanned using recycled and plant-based materials, such as coffee beans, making it environmentally friendly and saving approximately 100 pounds of salt per vehicle compared to conventional leather.
In addition to the leather upgrades, the Maybach EQS also features two Manufaktur wood options: brown birch and brown walnut, as well as a lacquered piano black for those with no taste. The cabin detailing is stunning, with real metal accents and more Maybach logos than you can count. The overall effect is warm and beautiful, with the woods perfectly matching the rich leather.

But the Maybach treatment is not just about aesthetics. The Maybach EQS also boasts more power from its twin electric motors, with a total output of 649 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque, enabling the vehicle to reach 60mph in 4.1 seconds. The Maybach EQS’s passengers will enjoy the modified air suspension, which has a dedicated Maybach driving mode, replacing the Comfort setting. Maybach mode focuses entirely on improving the ride quality for the rear passengers, limiting body movements and adjusting an “oscillation node” to reduce any impacts on the rear chairs.
While Mercedes has not released the Maybach EQS’s pricing, it is expected to be at a premium over the standard model, which is produced alongside it at the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, factory. The GLS600, which is similar in size and luxury to the Maybach EQS, starts at $170,000, and a starting price near $200,000 for the Maybach EQS seems reasonable. North American sales are set to begin in late 2023 or early 2024.
