Mercedes-Benz has appointed Jason Hoff as the new CEO of its North America division, marking a strategic move aimed at strengthening the automaker’s presence in its second-largest market.

Hoff, currently Global Head of Quality for Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans, will assume the role immediately and report directly to the global management board of Mercedes-Benz AG. He will oversee the company’s overall strategy in the U.S., where the German automaker seeks to deepen engagement with customers and expand its market share.

“As an American, I’ve had multiple opportunities to be in key roles in North America and Germany,” Hoff said in a statement. “I know what our amazing U.S. team is capable of and am excited to take our performance to the next level.”

Hoff, who joined Mercedes-Benz in 2013, has held leadership positions in both the U.S. and Germany, including serving as CEO of Mercedes-Benz International in Alabama.

The company also announced plans to consolidate its research and development, sales, and marketing activities in the U.S. under a unified structure. The move is part of a broader effort to drive growth in the region, where Mercedes-Benz reported total car and van sales of 324,500 vehicles in 2023.
