Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the updated version of its entry-level electric compact crossover, the EQA, ushering in a series of enhancements that bring it in line with its larger sibling, the EQB. With a focus on aesthetics, efficiency, and technological refinement, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQA sets a new standard in the world of compact electric crossovers.

The most noticeable change gracing the 2024 EQA is its refined exterior design. The front end showcases a fresh interpretation of the iconic Mercedes star pattern on the grille panel, seamlessly integrated with a luminous light bar uniting the headlights. Complementing this is an optimized front bumper, meticulously crafted to enhance aerodynamic efficiency and elevate the vehicle’s overall appearance.

At the rear, the taillights boast a revamped 3D light signature, adding a touch of intricacy to the EQA’s visual profile. These updates harmoniously align the EQA with the aesthetic language of its larger counterparts within the Mercedes EQ family, establishing a cohesive design identity shared by the EQE SUV and EQS SUV.

Stepping inside the facelifted EQA, occupants are greeted by a cabin that reflects both elegance and innovation. Mirroring the enhancements seen in the EQB, the EQA boasts a new three-spoke steering wheel featuring capacitive controls, accentuated dashboard and door trim elements adorned with illuminated Mercedes logos, and an expanded infotainment screen setup.

The dual 10.0-inch screens, powered by the latest iteration of the MBUX system, serve as the centerpiece of the interior. These screens offer a choice of three customizable styles—Subtle, Sporty, and Classic—enhancing the user experience with refined menus and graphics. Notably, the voice-recognition system has been fine-tuned to better accommodate various conversational nuances.

Underneath the elegant facade, the facelifted EQA demonstrates substantial strides in efficiency, translating to an extended driving range. Leveraging aerodynamic refinements, purpose-built low rolling-resistance tires, and an innovative range-maximization mode that intelligently deactivates non-essential functions like displays and air conditioning, the EQA 250+ variant achieves an impressive WLTP-rated range of up to 348 miles (560 kilometers).

Moreover, charging the EQA has been made more convenient with the introduction of the Plug & Charge function. This innovative feature facilitates automatic initiation of the charging process upon cable connection, eliminating the need for user authentication. Through seamless communication between the vehicle and charging station via the charging cable, a new level of ease and efficiency is achieved.

The EQA lineup continues to offer flexibility through its battery choices. The EQA 250, EQA 300 4Matic, and EQA 350 4Matic house a 66.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack, while the EQA 250+ long range model packs a 70.5-kWh battery. Both configurations support a maximum DC fast charging power of 100 kW.

Performance-wise, the EQA range offers a single-motor, front-wheel-drive setup in the EQA 250 and EQA 250+, each equipped with a 140-kilowatt (188-horsepower) motor. For all-wheel-drive enthusiasts, the EQA 300 4Matic and EQA 350 4Matic pack a dual-motor configuration, boasting combined outputs of 168 kW (225 hp) and 215 kW (288 hp), respectively.

Enhancing safety and convenience, the 2024 EQA incorporates advanced driving assistance systems. Bolstered by upgraded sensor technology, including a new mono-multipurpose camera and a revised backup camera, the optional Driving Assistance package now features refined functions like Active Lane Keeping Assist, employing steering intervention for improved precision.

While pricing details remain undisclosed, Mercedes-Benz has announced that European customers can commence placing orders for the facelifted EQA in the upcoming fall season, with deliveries scheduled to commence early in 2024. Regrettably, the EQA will not be offered in the United States, emphasizing the brand’s focus on the European market for this particular model.

As the automotive landscape embraces electric mobility with increasing fervor, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQA presents a compelling blend of style, efficiency, and advanced technology, propelling the entry-level electric crossover segment to new heights.
