Mazda has just introduced the 2022 Mazda2 Hybrid for the European market. As a product of cooperation with Toyota, the Mazda2 Hybrid primarily aims to expand Mazda’s selection of environmentally friendly cars in Europe.
Interestingly, the Mazda2 Hybrid is the first full-hybrid car in Mazda’s European lineup that already contains mild-hybrid cars and the MX-30 electric car.
On a basic basis, the Mazda2 Hybrid of course uses the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA)-B platform like its twin.
Then look at how it looks, the Mazda2 Hybrid is also exactly the same as the Yaris but with Mazda badges on the front and rear.
The interior is also no different from the Toyota Yaris except for the Mazda badge on the steering wheel and the Mazda2 lettering stitching on the carpet.
Regarding performance, the Mazda2 Hybrid is equipped with the same Toyota Hybrid System engine and hybrid system as the Toyota Yaris Hybrid in Europe.
It has a normal aspirated three-cylinder Toyota Dynamic Force engine with a capacity of 1,490 cc which produces 91 hp and 120 Nm of torque.
Combined with an 80 hp electric motor, the Mazda2 Hybrid’s hybrid system produces a combined power of 116 hp.
The power and torque are sent to the front wheels via an eCVT transmission.
Launching from Carscoops, the Mazda2 Hybrid will be present in three variants namely Pure, Agile, and Select.
The plan is that the Mazda2 Hybrid will begin greeting consumers in Europe in the spring of 2022.
