German automotive supplier Mahle has received an order valued at €200 million to supply DC converters for a new generation of battery-electric vehicles, the company said on Friday. The order comes from an unnamed international vehicle manufacturer operating in China.
Production of the converters is scheduled to begin in mid-2028 at Mahle’s facility in Changshu, which also houses a research and development centre established in 2021.

The DC/DC converter is designed to step down the voltage from 800 volts – typical of high-voltage EV batteries – to 12 volts to support components such as cameras, multimedia systems, and electric pumps, Mahle said in a statement.
Mahle did not disclose details about the vehicle model or the automaker involved, citing standard industry confidentiality practices. However, the company noted that the contract reflects continued demand for EV components as automakers shift to high-voltage platforms.

Approximately 600 employees currently work at the Changshu site. Mahle said it collaborates with both international and domestic original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in China, which remains the world’s largest automotive market.
“China is the leading market for the electrification of vehicles,” said Roger Busch, Mahle Head of Sales & Technology. “We see potential for further growth, especially in the areas of electrification and thermal management.”
