Mack Trucks has teamed up with Heliox and Gilbarco Veeder-Root to promote the adoption of battery-electric vehicles (BEV), specifically its LR Electric, which is the company’s first fully electric Class 8 refuse truck. The partnerships with Heliox and Gilbarco Veeder-Root will provide end-to-end support for Mack customers and help them access mobile and fixed chargers.
The strategic partnerships offer hardware installation services, on-hand inventory, and support resources focused on charger uptime. The partnerships enable customers to have better access to charging infrastructure upgrades as they make the transition to zero-emissions technology.

Mack’s next-generation LR Electric boasts 42% more energy and a standard 376kWh total battery capacity, which increases its range between charges. The vehicle features twin electric motors with 448 continuous horsepower and a 4,051 lb.-ft. of peak torque output from zero RPM power.
The LR Electric can be fitted with equipment bodies from various manufacturers based on customer needs, and it offers the same driver/passenger side driving configurations, seating choices, and door options as the diesel-powered Mack LR model.
The Heliox and Gilbarco Veeder-Root partnerships provide Mack customers with access to charging solutions in all power levels from 50kWh to 180kWh to support varying fleet duty cycles and dwell times. The partnerships also offer Mack strategic partners that will help develop specialized infrastructure to suit customers’ charging requirements and energy demands.

To simplify the purchase process and help customers manage expenses associated with acquiring the Mack LR Electric, Mack launched its Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) program. The VaaS program includes the vehicle chassis, the refuse body, applicable taxes, and a comprehensive vehicle protection plan, the Mack Ultra Service Agreement, for the Mack LR Electric model.
The Mack Ultra Service Agreement includes scheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance, towing and repair, a battery monitoring service, and Mack’s connected uptime services in one package, which can be included in monthly truck payments for customers in the U.S. and Canada through Mack Financial Services (MFS).
