Lunaz Design Transforms Rare 1961 Bentley S2 Continental into a Zero-Emissions Cruiser

Lunaz Design, an automotive company specializing in electric restomods, has recently unveiled its latest creation – a 1961 Bentley S2 Continental. This classic car is one of only four examples ever produced, making it an ultra-rare find. However, Lunaz has taken things to the next level by transforming it into an all-electric vehicle.

The classic car now boasts a proprietary modular electric drivetrain, producing 394 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque. This provides the Bentley with the motivation to reach 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds, a considerable improvement over its original performance.

In addition to its upgraded drivetrain, the Continental S2 also features a fully adjustable coil-spring suspension that can be adjusted from the cabin, as well as six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers in the rear to bring the car to a stop.

The interior of the car has been refurbished with sustainable materials, such as leather tanned with naturally-fallen olive leaves and carpets made from 100% regenerated nylon fiber. The wood veneer dashboard is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC), ensuring responsible sourcing.

Lunaz is committed to preserving the history and rarity of each vehicle it works on, with a stringent “upcycling” process that each project undergoes. This process involves 3D scanning to create digital models, stripping the vehicle down to a shell, and restoring it using traditional coachbuilding methods.

“This magnificent Bentley S2 Continental is the rarest vehicle ever to be converted to fully electric propulsion and the most exclusive project we’ve ever undertaken at Lunaz Design,” said company founder David Lorenz.

This once UK-supplied vehicle has traveled the world, living in Germany and Japan before being electrified and returned to its home country. Now, it will live out its days as a luxurious, all-electric classic car.

While Bentley has committed to going all-electric by 2030, they currently offer eco-conscious consumers the Bentayga and Flying Spur Hybrid, both of which are plug-in hybrid vehicles.
