Lucid has begun rolling out one of the most substantial software updates for its Gravity electric SUV, introducing hands-free driving capabilities alongside a range of navigation, charging, safety, and convenience enhancements.

The over-the-air (OTA) update, known as Lucid UX 3.6, is now being deployed to Gravity owners across North America. The release expands the functionality of Lucid’s DreamDrive driver-assistance system while adding new tools designed to improve the overall ownership experience.

Hands-Free Driving Added to Gravity

The headline feature of the update is Hands-Free Drive Assist, available on Gravity models equipped with the DreamDrive 2 Pro package.

According to Lucid, the system can control steering, acceleration, and braking on approved highways while continuously monitoring driver attention. Drivers are still required to remain attentive and ready to take control when necessary.

The update also introduces Assisted Lane Change functionality. By activating the turn signal, drivers can prompt the system to assess surrounding traffic and execute a lane change when conditions allow.

Lucid is further adding Automatic Lane Change, enabling the vehicle to independently perform overtaking maneuvers around slower traffic. Owners can select from different driving styles, including a more conservative mode that limits lane changes and a more assertive setting designed to pass slower vehicles more frequently.

Improved Vehicle Visualization

Lucid has upgraded the visual representations displayed on the Gravity’s digital instrument cluster and central touchscreen.

The system can now display traffic across up to five lanes and provides more detailed classifications of nearby vehicles, including pickup trucks, SUVs, buses, and other road users.

The enhanced graphics are intended to give drivers greater visibility into how the vehicle interprets its surroundings while operating driver-assistance features.

Navigation and Charging Enhancements

The UX 3.6 update also expands the capabilities of Lucid Navigation through integration with the Google Maps Places API.

Drivers can now access richer destination information, including photos, ratings, business details, and parking information directly within the vehicle’s navigation system.

Charging station information has also been upgraded with more accurate real-time availability data and updated imagery to help drivers plan charging stops more efficiently.

Lucid is introducing additional energy-management tools designed to improve charging transparency.

A new battery readiness indicator displays how close the battery pack is to reaching the optimal temperature for DC fast charging, while a Predictive Charging Power feature estimates expected charging performance before the vehicle is connected to a charger.

Adaptive High-Beam Technology

Another major addition is Adaptive Driving Beam technology, available on Gravity models equipped with DreamDrive Premium or DreamDrive 2 Pro.

The feature allows high beams to remain active while dynamically adjusting light patterns around other vehicles, reducing glare for oncoming traffic while maximizing nighttime visibility for the driver.

The technology joins a growing list of advanced lighting features becoming available through software updates in modern vehicles.

Additional Convenience Features

Beyond the major driver-assistance and navigation upgrades, Lucid UX 3.6 includes several quality-of-life improvements.

The update delivers faster system startup times, improved automatic lock and unlock functionality, customizable mirror tilt settings when reversing, and enhancements to Lucid’s Halo Secure Drive Recorder system.

The latest release highlights Lucid’s continued focus on expanding vehicle functionality through software updates, bringing new capabilities to Gravity owners without requiring hardware modifications.

With the addition of hands-free highway driving, advanced lane-change automation, enhanced navigation services, and improved charging intelligence, UX 3.6 represents one of the most feature-rich updates released for the Gravity platform since its launch.
