Lucid’s Air sedan has been widely praised for its performance and range, but some owners have expressed frustration with the company’s customer service. A Reddit user, posting under the alias MtrCityMadMan, shared his experience, stating that while the car is “a pleasure to drive” and its range is “fantastic,” Lucid’s service support has been disappointing.
His issues began after he accidentally damaged his side mirror and had to visit a service center 2.5 hours away. What was estimated to be a one-to-two-hour repair turned into an all-day ordeal. “I sat in a McDonald’s for over 5 hours,” he wrote. “No updates and when I’d call they didn’t have any timeline. What should have been a morning repair (left early and planned on being back midday) turned into a 12-hour day. Barely an apology.”

A later bumper repair required another long trip, and more recently, his vehicle displayed multiple warning messages. Despite reaching out to Lucid’s 24/7 customer support, he waited hours for a response. “I didn’t get a call back for 5 hours (when it was 11:30pm local time). Never got a text,” he explained.
Other Lucid owners reported similar concerns. “I am going through the mirror thing now. Exact same thing bumping it against the garage. They are requiring a full replacement at $3000+… insanity,” one wrote. Another pointed to the high cost of certification as a reason for the lack of repair options: “It costs over $200K to become a certified repair shop which is at the expense of the body shop. Why would they spend that type of money when hardly any cars are on the road?”

While some owners had positive experiences, Lucid’s service network remains a point of contention. As the company expands its lineup with the upcoming Gravity SUV, improving customer support may be key to retaining buyers. “To any Lucid execs that may end up reading this – you have to do better. Build quality is great but customer service builds loyal customers,” MtrCityMadMan concluded.
