Lucid Gravity is launching soon, combining sporty style and luxury

Remember Lucid Gravity? Naturally, many people forget, because this car concept first circulated in September 2020. It’s been two years since it was introduced to the public but Lucid has yet to release this car.

The good news, recently Lucid released a new teaser for Lucid Gravity. This teaser is like an oasis in the middle of the desert because the manufacturer is very secretive regarding its first SUV project.

Although the details in the teaser are limited, in a short video teaser entitled “In the Air – and Beyond” the manufacturer says this crossover SUV will have a design reminiscent of the Lucid Air.

The Gravity will be based on the Lucid Electric Advanced Platform (LEAP), which was announced in September 2020. Combined with the Lucid Space Concept, which minimizes the in-house developed EV drivetrain to optimize cabin space, a second Lucid car is expected with class-leading interior space and comfort.

The Gravity will incorporate the luxurious design defined by Lucid Air, but with SUV hallmarks such as upright front and rear fascias, straight body lines, square fenders, large greenhouses, etc. Jenkins told hotcars.com that the Lucid Air’s design DNA lends itself to a utility vehicle product like the Lucid Gravity.

The patent images show the Gravity featuring slim headlights similar to the Lucid Air, a noticeably shortened bonnet (with air vents), and a large windscreen.

On the side, the electric luxury SUV features horizontal beltlines, slim but wide windows and quarter glass panes, a very flat roof and square wheel arches.

Lucid Gravity specifications are still under wraps, but the model is expected to share powertrain options with the sedan. If that’s the case, there’s probably an entry-level Pure variant that has 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS) and a range of around 400 miles (644 km).

This could potentially be joined by a 620 hp (462 kW / 629 PS) Touring variant and a 1,050 hp (783 kW / 1,065 PS) Grand Touring version with an increased range of around 500 miles.
