Lotus has opened order books across mainland Europe for the Eletre X, a new hybrid SUV built on the company’s X-Hybrid powertrain architecture and positioned as an alternative to fully electric luxury performance vehicles.
The model, which is marketed as the For Me in China, is the first Lotus vehicle to utilize the X-Hybrid system. Customer deliveries in Europe are expected to begin during the fourth quarter of 2026, while right-hand-drive versions for the UK market are scheduled to follow in summer 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
Pricing starts at €96,990 for the Eletre X H550 and rises to €119,990 for the higher-performance Eletre X H1000 variant.
Hybrid System Focuses on Extended Range
Lotus said the X-Hybrid architecture is designed as an electric-first powertrain that combines battery-electric propulsion with an internal combustion engine functioning primarily as an onboard generator.
The system incorporates a 70 kWh battery pack, a 150 kW generator and a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that replenishes battery energy while driving.
According to Lotus, the vehicle can operate in pure-electric mode, generator-assisted mode or a hybrid operating strategy depending on battery charge levels, vehicle speed and driver demand.
The company is targeting a combined WLTP driving range of more than 1,200 kilometers, including up to 350 kilometers of all-electric driving capability.
Lotus also stated that the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in approximately nine minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger.
Performance-Oriented Powertrain
The Eletre X features dual permanent-magnet electric motors and is offered in two performance configurations.
Lotus said the system can produce up to 952 PS and 935 Nm of torque in its highest-output form, enabling a targeted acceleration time of 3.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.
The company added that the vehicle is designed to maintain high levels of performance even at lower battery charge levels through its onboard power generation system.
“Eletre X is proof of how cutting-edge technology can serve the driver, a value which is at the heart of the Lotus brand,” said Qingfeng Feng, chief executive officer of Lotus Technology.
“We feel that we have created something which not only pushes the boundaries of what is possible from a technical standpoint but, in doing so, enriches their emotional and practical driving experience.”
Lightweight Design and Advanced Chassis
Lotus said weight-saving measures across the body structure, battery system and drivetrain allow the Eletre X H550 to weigh up to 120 kilograms less than the fully electric Eletre 900.
The SUV incorporates active aerodynamic features including an active grille shutter and rear spoiler designed to improve efficiency and stability.
Chassis technologies include dual-chamber air suspension, adaptive dampers, active anti-roll control, torque management systems, Brembo brakes and specially developed Pirelli tires.
Technology-Rich Interior
Inside the vehicle, Lotus equips the Eletre X with its Hyper OS infotainment platform, digital displays and a head-up display while retaining physical controls for key vehicle functions.
The SUV also features a 23-speaker audio system developed with KEF and utilizes NVIDIA Thor computing hardware alongside multiple sensors to support driver-assistance functions.
Interior materials include carbon fiber, Alcantara and recycled textile materials.
Expanding Electrified Portfolio
The Eletre X represents Lotus’s latest step in expanding its electrified vehicle lineup as automakers explore different approaches to balancing electric driving capability with extended driving range.
The company said specifications released with the launch remain preliminary and will be finalized ahead of the vehicle’s market introduction.
