German-Swiss multinational equipment manufacturer, Liebherr, has officially launched its initial foray into battery electric wheel loaders, introducing the L 507 E. This innovative high-voltage battery-powered system, specifically designed for wheel loader applications, offers an operational span of up to eight hours, contingent upon varying operating conditions.

The modular battery concept allows for the optional installation of a second lithium-ion battery, extending the running time as per customer requirements.

Promoted as a zero-emission and low-noise alternative for construction sites, the L 507 E boasts performance levels comparable to its conventional counterparts in the same size class. Equipped with stereo steering and incorporating familiar advantages of a Liebherr Stereoloader, this marks Liebherr’s debut in the electric wheel loader segment. It is noteworthy that Liebherr’s entry into this market follows Volvo CE’s introduction of electric wheel loaders in 2021.

In tandem with the electric wheel loader, Liebherr has unveiled a mobile energy storage system named Liduro Power Port (LPO). Tailored for supplying power to construction sites, the LPO enables the operation or charging of hybrid or fully electric construction machinery with zero emissions at the local level.

Boasting a constant power output of up to 160 kW, the system supports simultaneous charging and discharging. Liebherr emphasizes that energy and condition monitoring are facilitated through local controls and a remotely accessible app for smartphones and tablets. The series product is anticipated to be available in various power ranges throughout the year, according to Liebherr.
