Li Auto has announced that cumulative orders for its Li L6 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) have exceeded 20,000 units, just 12 days after the vehicle’s launch. The company also revealed that over 2,000 units of the Li L6 have been delivered in the past six days, with delivery centers set to remain open during the upcoming Labor Day holiday in China (May 1-5, 2024).
To meet the high demand, Li Auto stated that it will ramp up production capacity to ensure that more customers receive their Li L6 as early as possible. The Li L6, which officially launched on April 18, comes in two trims, Pro and Max, with starting prices of RMB 249,800 ($34,490) and RMB 279,800, respectively. Deliveries of the Li L6 began on April 24.
Despite speculation about the possibility of a lower-priced Li L6 Air model in the future, Li Auto has clarified that it currently has no plans for a variant with lower specifications than the Li L6 Pro.
Li Auto’s decision to cut prices earlier this month, following Tesla’s price cut, reflects the company’s adjustment of its expectations for the market. Liu Jie, president of product lines at Li Auto, stated in an interview that the company will adopt a more rational and conservative approach to its market assessment this year.
Originally aiming to sell 800,000 vehicles in 2024, Li Auto has revised its sales target to between 560,000 and 640,000 vehicles due to lower-than-expected performance of the Li Mega MPV. Despite this adjustment, the strong demand for the Li L6 indicates a promising start for the model and for Li Auto’s overall sales strategy.
