Li Auto has officially launched its inaugural battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Li Mega MPV, at the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show. The company is now open for pre-orders and aims to position the Li Mega as the top choice for families in the above 500,000 yuan price range, irrespective of energy form or body style.
While specific details about the number of Li Mega versions and the exact pricing were not disclosed, Li Auto emphasized that the model would be priced under RMB 600,000 yuan ($82,820). Customers eager to secure priority delivery can pre-order the Li Mega by paying a refundable deposit of RMB 5,000.
The official launch of the Li Mega is scheduled for December, with test-drive vehicles available in Li Auto showrooms from January and deliveries slated to begin in late February. The MPV, measuring 5,350 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width, and 1,850 mm in height, features a distinctive design reminiscent of a Chinese high-speed train locomotive.
A noteworthy feature of the Li Mega is its use of CATL’s Qilin Battery, supporting 5C ultra-fast charging and offering a 500-km range on just a 12-minute charge. Li Auto has strategically invested in charging infrastructure, targeting 300 5C supercharging stations in China by the end of the year. The company claims the Li Mega’s powerful performance allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.5 seconds.
In addition to its impressive range and charging capabilities, the Li Mega boasts a wind resistance of 0.215 Cd, claimed to be the lowest among MPVs globally. Li Auto, which currently has three extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models on sale, continues to make strides in the competitive electric vehicle market with its latest offering.
