South Korea’s LG Energy Solution and U.S.-based Doosan Bobcat have signed a memorandum of understanding to co-develop standardized battery pack solutions for compact construction equipment, the companies said in a joint statement.
Under the agreement, LG Energy Solution will supply lithium-ion battery cells or modules, while Doosan Bobcat will integrate them with battery management systems and package them into optimized battery packs for skid steer loaders and excavators. The companies also plan to explore expanding these battery packs for agricultural and landscaping equipment, including tractors.

“We are pleased to develop battery packs for compact construction equipment on the back of excellent quality and stability of LG Energy Solution’s cells,” said Hyunchul (Charlie) Park, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President of Doosan Bobcat. “We will standardize battery packs for compact construction equipment and provide solutions to major markets such as North America.”
Doosan Bobcat has already been working in battery development, having collaborated with China’s CosMX to develop and integrate battery packs into electric forklifts since last year. The company also announced the establishment of a dedicated battery research team in January and plans to open an R&D center in Pyeongchon, Anyang City, South Korea, in the second half of this year to validate battery pack manufacturing technology.
