Lexus has recently introduced its smallest model to date, the LBX, which has been specifically developed for the European market. Positioned as the new entry-level SUV in the Toyota brand’s lineup, the LBX is equipped with the latest generation full hybrid system, boasting an impressive output of 100 kW/36 hp.

Scheduled to commence production by the end of 2023, the highly anticipated Lexus LBX is expected to hit the European and select global markets in early 2024. With a quick acceleration time of 9.2 seconds for 0-100 km/h, this compact SUV promises a thrilling driving experience. Although pricing details have not been disclosed at this stage, prospective buyers can anticipate a competitive offering.

Powering the LBX is a high-output, bi-polar nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, which not only supports additional electric motor assistance during acceleration but also extends the car’s all-electric EV driving capability. While the exact all-electric driving range remains undisclosed, Lexus emphasizes that the hybrid system upgrades enable an enhanced EV driving experience at higher speeds and over longer distances. Furthermore, the LBX features a redesigned cooling system that enhances battery life and performance.

Lexus has placed a strong emphasis on driver experience and comfort in the LBX. Chief Engineer Kunihiko Endoh explained, “Our aim was to challenge the conventional concept of a luxury car. We have strived to create a driving experience that fosters a natural connection between the driver and their vehicle, accompanied by a refined design.” The vehicle incorporates various comfort enhancements, including improved noise and vibration insulation. Additionally, the LBX boasts a range of entertainment and multimedia systems to enhance the overall driving pleasure.

The LBX will be offered in four distinct “atmospheres” or variants, in addition to the base grade. These include “Elegant” and “Relax,” which prioritize a refined ambiance, and “Emotion” and “Cool,” which offer a sportier and more dynamic character. Each variant has been thoughtfully designed to cater to different types of customers, ensuring a personalized driving experience.

With its compact size, advanced hybrid system, and focus on driver comfort, the Lexus LBX is poised to make a significant impact in the European SUV market. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds among automotive enthusiasts eager to witness the new era of Lexus luxury and performance.
