Chinese new energy vehicle maker Leapmotor unveiled its first multi-purpose vehicle, the D99, and confirmed the launch schedule for its upcoming D19 sport utility vehicle, as the company continues to broaden its product portfolio amid intensifying competition in the domestic EV market.
The announcements were made during Leapmotor’s 10th anniversary event. The D99 becomes the second model in the company’s D-series lineup, following the earlier debut of the D19. The MPV measures more than 5.2 meters in length, just under 2 meters in width, and features a wheelbase exceeding 3.1 meters, according to the company.

Leapmotor said the D99 will be offered in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) configurations. The EREV version is equipped with an 80.3-kWh battery pack, which the company said enables the longest battery-powered driving range among extended-range MPVs currently on the market. The BEV variant will use a 1,000-volt high-voltage electrical architecture and a 115-kWh battery supplied by CATL.
The D99 also features an advanced intelligent driving system powered by dual Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 processors, delivering a combined 1,280 TOPS of computing power and supporting visual-language-action (VLA) models. Leapmotor said the vehicle has a body torsional stiffness of 46,682 Nm/deg and incorporates a dual-wheel puncture-stability system.

The BEV variant is equipped with a 115-kWh battery providing a claimed range of up to 720 kilometers, while the EREV version uses an 80.3-kWh battery with a range of up to 500 kilometers. The model will be available in six- and seven-seat configurations.
Leapmotor’s current product lineup includes the T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11, C16 and Lafa 5, covering a wide range of compact cars, sedans and SUVs. The company has positioned the D-series as its premium offering, targeting higher-end segments in China’s increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.
