Leapmotor, a Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer backed by Stellantis, has introduced a dedicated car carrier to support its growing international business. The move comes as the company accelerates exports to Europe and expands its presence in overseas markets.
The vessel, named “Grande Tianjin,” was delivered in Shanghai in collaboration with the Grimaldi Group, a multinational logistics firm specializing in maritime transport.

Built for vehicle shipments, the carrier is capable of transporting more than 2,500 Leapmotor electric vehicles to Europe in a single voyage. Grimaldi has been providing Leapmotor with steady shipping capacity since 2022, enabling monthly transport of up to 22,500 vehicles from Asia to Europe.
Leapmotor’s international footprint now spans over 30 countries and regions, supported by more than 1,500 sales and service outlets worldwide. Cumulative deliveries have surpassed 800,000 units. The company is a joint venture between Stellantis and Leapmotor, established in May 2024 and headquartered in Amsterdam, with Stellantis holding a 51% stake.

The automaker began selling overseas in 2024 with models such as the T03 compact EV and the C10 mid-size SUV, available in battery electric and extended-range variants. It plans to introduce the B10 compact electric SUV in global markets this September, the first model in its B series built to international standards. Leapmotor joins other Chinese carmakers such as SAIC Motor and BYD in deploying dedicated car carriers to secure shipping capacity for global expansion.
