One of the pioneers in electric motorcycles, Taiwan-based Kymco, has introduced some intriguing models like the RevoNEX and SuperNEX, which wowed audiences at the EICMA motorcycle show. Kymco also has its own subsidiary called Ionex, dedicated solely to EV projects. One of the latest models to come out of the Ionex project is the i-One electric scooter, a lightweight commuter geared towards beginners. Kymco recently released this model in the French market, after selling it in several Asian countries.

In terms of design, the Kymco i-One keeps things simple with a simple approach. Designed with practicality and efficiency in mind, the i-One is powered by a small electric motor with a peak output of 3,600 watts or about five horsepower. Classified as a moped in Europe, the i-One is limited to a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour (28 miles per hour).
When it comes to the battery, the scooter uses a removable battery pack with a capacity of 1,743 watt-hours. This provides a range of up to 31 miles (50 kilometers), which can be doubled by carrying an optional backup battery placed under the saddle. Interestingly, Kymco has managed to keep the scooter lightweight and compact thanks to its tubular steel frame and alloy wheels. In total, the i-One weighs 86 kilograms, making it easy for beginner riders to swing their legs and cruise around.

Other features include full LED lighting and multiple riding modes. The scooter also comes equipped with a digital display, a hook under the handlebar for carrying bags, and a front cubby hole with a USB charging port for powering devices on the go. The Kymco i-One electric scooter comes with a hefty price tag of 3,999 euros in France, and the optional secondary battery is sold for 899 euros.
