Kia debuted its highly anticipated 2026 EV9 GT at the LA Auto Show, showcasing a high-performance version of its three-row electric SUV. The EV9 GT boasts upgraded power, advanced features, and a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, aligning with Kia’s plans to enhance EV infrastructure compatibility.

The EV9 GT features a significant horsepower boost to 501 hp, compared to the 379 hp of the current GT-Line trim. Its dual-motor system includes a 160 kW motor in the front and a 270 kW motor in the rear, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 4.3 seconds. Additional performance enhancements include an electronically controlled suspension, larger front brakes, and an electronic limited-slip differential for improved handling.

“The EV9 GT represents the next evolution of performance and design for Kia’s electric vehicles, combining power, sophistication, and the latest in charging technology,” Kia stated during the unveiling.

The EV9 GT also introduces exclusive design elements, such as neon green brake calipers, bolstered sport seats, and a GT-specific steering wheel. A notable addition is the “Virtual Gear Shift,” a feature that mimics traditional gear changes through visual, auditory, and tactile feedback, a concept first introduced in Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N.

In terms of charging, the EV9 GT will include a native NACS port, eliminating the need for adapters to access Tesla Superchargers. Kia confirmed that all EV9 models will incorporate NACS ports starting in the first half of 2025, aligning with the automaker’s push for enhanced charging convenience.

While the EV9 GT will be assembled in Korea and is slated for release in the latter half of 2025, its pricing remains undisclosed. Industry expectations suggest a starting price in the high $70,000 range, reflecting the premium nature of Kia’s high-performance GT models.
