Kia partners with Electrify America for electric car charging in America

Kia has partnered with Electrify America to provide owners of the Kia EV6 electric car with a free 1,000-kilowatt charge.

Kia EV6 owners have three years to use up 1,000 kilowatts of free charging. To use it, they had to create an Electrify America account and sign in via the smartphone app. Kia will provide the owner with a registration code via the owner portal or the Kia Connect app.

“Kia is undergoing an important shift towards electrification and the All New Kia EV6 is the first major step in that direction, backed by the company’s state-of-the-art E-GMP platform,” said Steve Center, COO and EVP, Kia America.

If the owner encounters a problem, Electrify America will provide assistance over a three-year period. According to Kia, this 1,000-kilowatt charging can cover a distance of 5,632 km to 6,437 km.

For your information, Electrify America is the largest DC charging network in the United States and many stations offer 350 kW fast charging capability. The Kia EV6 is one of the few vehicles that can make the most of such power and speed.

Thanks to its 800 volt architecture, it can charge from 10 to 80 percent (349k) in just 18 minutes depending on various conditions. Where, the Kia EV6 has a maximum range of 498 km when equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery.

“Partnering with Electrify America will allow our customers to enjoy a superior charging experience coupled with the incredible Kia EV6,” concluded Steve.
