South Korean automaker Kia has announced UK pricing and specifications for the EV2, its smallest electric vehicle to date, as the company expands its battery-electric line-up in Europe.

The B-segment SUV will start at £27,995 for the ‘Air’ variant with a 61.0 kWh battery, or £24,245 with a £3,750 reservation saving, which Kia said is designed to reflect the potential UK government Electric Car Grant if approved. Reservations are now open, with first customer deliveries expected later in 2026.

Additional variants include the ‘First Edition’, priced from £28,495 (or £26,995 with a £1,500 saving), while the ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ trims start at £28,995 and £32,595 respectively after discounts. The EV2 is positioned as the entry-level offering in Kia’s dedicated EV portfolio.

The model will be offered with two lithium-ion battery options: a 42.2 kWh pack for the ‘First Edition’ and a 61.0 kWh version for higher trims. Maximum WLTP range is estimated at up to 281 miles, pending final certification. Kia said the EV2 delivers “one of the longest ranges on a single charge of all EVs under £25,000.”

All variants are built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and feature a single front-mounted electric motor. The standard-range version produces 107.5 kW and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 8.7 seconds, while the long-range version delivers 99.5 kW and reaches 62 mph in 9.5 seconds. Torque is rated at 250 Nm across all versions, with a top speed of 100 mph.

The EV2 uses a 400-volt architecture and supports DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 29 minutes for the smaller battery and 30 minutes for the larger pack. AC charging at 11 kW enables a full charge in around 5 hours 20 minutes and 7 hours 15 minutes respectively.

Kia said aerodynamic enhancements such as active air flaps, underbody covers and flush door handles contribute to a drag coefficient of 0.29. The vehicle measures just over four metres in length and features a 2.6-metre wheelbase, offering a flat floor layout and increased interior space. Boot capacity is 362 litres, expanding to 1,201 litres with the rear seats folded.

Inside, the EV2 is equipped with Kia’s Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), which includes dual 12.3-inch displays and a 5.3-inch climate control touchscreen. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates and an AI-powered personal assistant. Kia said the assistant “comprehends complex contexts through natural language understanding” and supports navigation, infotainment and vehicle control functions.

The model also includes Plug & Charge capability and Kia CarPay as standard.

The EV2 was first unveiled earlier this year and will be produced at Kia’s plant in Žilina, Slovakia. The model joins the company’s broader electric vehicle range, which includes the EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6 and EV9, as Kia continues to target growth in the European EV market.
