Kia Canada has opened online reservations and confirmed pricing for its new EV5 electric sport utility vehicle, which will be offered exclusively in Canada for the North American market, with first customer deliveries expected early next year.

The 2027 Kia EV5 will start at C$43,495 for the entry-level Light front-wheel-drive trim. Prices rise through the Wind and Land variants, each offered with front- or all-wheel drive, up to the range-topping GT-Line Limited AWD at C$61,495, Kia Canada said.

Two battery options will be available. The Light version will use a 60.3-kilowatt-hour battery, while all higher trims will be equipped with a larger 81.4-kWh long-range pack. The EV5 will also feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing access to Canada’s growing network of high-power DC fast chargers.

Kia first unveiled the EV5 in 2023 and launched the model initially in China. The compact SUV adopts styling elements from the larger EV9, including a squared-off profile and the brand’s signature “tiger face” grille design interpreted for electric vehicles. Canadian buyers will be able to choose from wheel sizes ranging from 18 to 20 inches and eight exterior colours, including new Magma Red and Frost Blue options.

Production of the Canadian-spec EV5 will take place at Kia’s Autoland Gwangju plant in South Korea. Kia said initial deliveries will focus on the Wind FWD through GT-Line Limited AWD trims, while the entry-level Light version is scheduled to reach customers in late 2026. Official driving range figures are expected to be released in early 2026.

Kia earlier confirmed the EV5 will not be marketed in the United States. The company has not given a formal reason for the decision, though the move comes as automakers reassess North American EV supply chains amid shifting tariff and trade policies.
