Electric vehicles dominated the World Car Awards with the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6 as World Car of the Year nominees.

There are three finalists in all six award categories and electric vehicles have dominated this year’s competition.

While the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the favourite, the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Kia EV6 have also impressed reviewers, so it’s still unclear which one will take the top honors.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was also nominated for the World Electric Vehicle of the Year. However, in that category, you have to compete with the Audi e-tron GT and Mercedes EQS. They become the fierce rivals of the Ioniq 5 because they combine an electric powertrain with luxury, performance and technology.

In the World Luxury Car EV category also dominates the award nominations. Mercedes EQS entered as a finalist and had to fight the BMW iX and Genesis GV70.

In the World Performance Car category, the finalists were the Audi e-tron GT, BMW M3/M4, and Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ.

The World Car Design of the Year was also dominated by electric vehicles with finalists Audi e-tron GT, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6.

Lastly, is the World Urban Car category with the finalists being the Opel Mokka, Toyota Yaris Cross, and Volkswagen Taigun.

The winners of the World Car Awards will be announced at the New York Auto Show on April 13. Which of the finalists above is your favorite to be the winner.
