The Kia EV3 has received the highest possible “Very Good” rating in the assisted driving evaluation conducted by Euro NCAP, Europe’s independent vehicle safety authority. This marks a significant achievement for Kia and Hyundai Motor Group, as the EV3 is the first model from the group to attain this top rating.
Euro NCAP assessed the EV3’s Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) system, which integrates real-time driver monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane centring. The evaluation focused on two key categories: ‘assistance competence’ and ‘safety backup’, in which the vehicle scored 74 and 88 out of 100 points, respectively. The combined total of 162 points secured the “Very Good” accolade.
According to Euro NCAP, the HDA 2 system effectively balances substantial vehicle assistance with maintaining driver engagement. It supports various real-world driving scenarios such as lane changes, lane keeping at different speeds, and safely stopping the vehicle if the driver becomes unresponsive, demonstrating robust motorway assistance capabilities.
“This excellent outcome reflects Kia’s commitment to delivering advanced technologies that enhance driver convenience and passenger safety,” said Pablo Martinez Masip, Vice President Product and Marketing of Kia Europe and COO of Kia Connect Europe. He added that the EV3’s performance in the test “draws attention to the capabilities of Highway Driving Assist 2 and serves as a milestone for Hyundai Motor Group.”
The EV3 is positioned as Kia’s primary electric model in the compact SUV segment, offering a competitive combination of range, versatility, and affordability. It features a segment-leading driving range of up to 375 miles and an innovative interior designed to maximize space and comfort. The model has received several accolades, including the 2025 World Car of the Year and ‘Best EV Crossover’ at the 2025 TopGear.com Electric Awards.
Kia plans to broaden the EV3 lineup with the introduction of an all-wheel-drive variant to provide additional choice for customers. The model is currently available across European markets.
