KGMC Commercial (KGMC) has introduced its new 9-meter electric bus, the KGC 090, as part of its expanding eco-friendly vehicle lineup. Mass production began this month at the company’s Gunsan plant, with customer deliveries scheduled to commence on Nov. 25.
The KGC 090 complements KGMC’s existing 11-meter electric bus model, reinforcing its portfolio of environmentally friendly vehicles. KGMC reported contracts for 300 electric buses in 2023, encompassing both 9-meter and 11-meter variants, generating approximately 100 billion won ($71.44 million) in revenue—an increase of 160% compared to last year’s sales of 115 units worth 38 billion won.
To date, 227 of the contracted units have been delivered, with the remaining 73 units to follow according to client schedules. KGMC highlighted the achievement as a significant milestone since its integration into the KG Group, describing it as a step toward stabilizing operations and scaling production.
As part of its efforts to enhance brand visibility, KGMC is offering customers a free emblem replacement campaign, enabling transportation companies to swap Edison Motors emblems for KGMC branding.
“We aim to diversify our eco-friendly bus lineup for the domestic market while leveraging our global network to drive sales growth,” a KGMC spokesperson stated. “Our vision is to position KGMC as a leading eco-friendly commercial vehicle manufacturer in South Korea.”
The KGC 090 is set to strengthen KGMC’s market presence, offering advanced electric technology in a compact 9-meter design tailored for various transportation needs.
