Finnish charging equipment manufacturer Kempower has introduced the Kempower Mega Satellite Flex, its first charging dispenser to combine Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and CCS charging connectors in a single unit.

The company unveiled the product at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas as part of its expansion into heavy-duty electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Kempower first introduced its proprietary MCS charging system in 2024, targeting electric trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles with charging power of up to 1.2 megawatts and currents reaching 1,500 amperes.

Initial deployments of the company’s MCS charging technology began in 2025.

The new Mega Satellite Flex dispenser combines support for the emerging MCS standard with the widely used Combined Charging System (CCS), allowing charging providers to serve both current and future electric truck models during the transition toward megawatt charging.

The MCS standard is intended for high-power charging of heavy-duty electric vehicles but has not yet reached broad market adoption because few electric trucks currently include MCS charging ports and charging infrastructure remains limited.

Kempower said the dual-connector design is intended to improve charging station utilisation and investment returns during the transition period.

The Mega Satellite Flex must be connected to a Kempower Power Unit as part of the company’s satellite charging architecture.

According to Kempower, the system supports charging power of up to 1.2 MW through the MCS connector and up to 560 kW through CCS.

“We’re proud to be introducing our newest solution designed to support our customers in taking the next step toward zero-emission heavy-duty transportation,” Jussi Vanhanen, chief product officer at Kempower, said in a statement.

“Our flexible solution supports operators to take the leap by enabling them to serve more vehicle types, increasing site utilization and return on investment in the short-term, while also getting ready for the MCS transition,” Vanhanen added.

Kempower said the Mega Satellite Flex will become available in Europe and North America beginning in July 2026 and will be displayed at multiple industry events across Europe during the summer.

The company joins competitors including Alpitronic in offering charging dispensers that combine CCS and MCS standards.
