Kawasaki appeared at the motorcycle exhibition in Germany, Intermot, which was held until October 9, 2022. At the Intermot 2022 Cologne, Kawasaki displayed an EV concept based on the Z series.
Kawasaki launched the EV Concept electric motorcycle (e-bike). Referring to Kawasaki President Hiroshi Ito’s commitment to deliver three electric vehicles by 2022, Masaya Tsurono, Managing Director of Kawasaki Motors Europe, said the EV Concept will form the basis of Kawasaki’s e-bike in the future.
Tsurono also said electric and bio-fuel options are being considered by Kawasaki. The research also includes the use of hydrogen as a possible carbon neutral option.
At Intermot, the Kawasaki EV concept, looks like the model featured on the Suzuka 8Hours. Although the details have not been explained, it is stated that the electric Z model has a power equivalent to 125cc. With chain end drive.
Previously, the electric motorcycle made its first appearance at the Suzuka 8 Hours 2022 event which was held in early August 2022. At that time Kawasaki even displayed two electric motorcycle units that they made.
The electric motorcycle is now present in Europe and immediately became the center of attention of visitors to the Intermot 2022 exhibition in Cologne, Germany. Only this time Kawasaki is confident enough to bring a concept electric motorcycle unit.
Kawasaki does not want to miss entering the world of electric motorcycles. They even target that by 2035 they will be able to produce electric motors on a large scale. It’s just that until now the motorcycle company from Japan is still focused on developing sport motorbikes with conventional engines.
That’s much different from Honda, which has just announced that it will make 10 electric motorcycles by 2025. They even target to be able to sell 1 million electric motorcycles in the next 5 years, and to 3.5 million by 2030.
