Kandi Technologies Group has started production at its battery swap equipment manufacturing facility in Lin’an, China, through its subsidiary China Battery Exchange (Zhejiang) Technology Co., Ltd.
The facility is expected to produce up to 200 battery swap stations annually for heavy-duty trucks under an existing cooperation agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL).

Production Supports CATL Partnership
China Battery Exchange signed a three-year agreement with CATL’s Qiji Energy in January 2026 covering the production of battery swap stations for heavy-duty trucks and the provision of related after-sales services.
According to the company, its proprietary battery swap equipment can complete a battery replacement in as little as 90 seconds.
The Lin’an facility will serve as the primary production site supporting the agreement.

Expansion of Battery Swap Network
The partnership forms part of CATL’s 10,000 Stations Plan, under which Qiji Energy aims to establish approximately 900 battery swap stations for heavy-duty trucks by the end of 2026.
Kandi said China Battery Exchange had previously qualified as a supplier within CATL’s supplier network before signing the cooperation agreement.
Policy Supports Industry Growth
The production launch follows the release of an action plan by China’s National Energy Administration on July 10, 2026, which calls for expanding battery swap infrastructure along expressways as part of the country’s Dual Carbon strategy.

The broader policy framework targets a 40% share of new-energy vehicles in heavy-duty truck sales and a fleet of more than 1.6 million new-energy heavy trucks by 2030.
