The Ford Transit has been a staple of the European commercial van market since its introduction in the 1960s. The second-generation model was launched in 1986, featuring a new design and upgraded platform. Over the years, it received new powertrains and equipment levels, and in 1994 underwent a major facelift with updated styling and even more new engines.
Production for the European market ended in 2003, but the original model continued to be produced in China until 2017. It was eventually replaced by the JMC Teshun, which is essentially the same vehicle with a new front fascia and interior.

Now, the JMC Teshun has received an electric version, known as the Teshun Touring EV. The electric version comes with a 65 kWh battery pack providing a range of up to 186 miles (300 kilometers) on China’s CLTC cycle, with a range “under constant speed” of up to 310 miles (500 km).
Power comes from a front-wheel electric motor with 163 horsepower (120 kilowatts) and 236 pound-feet (320 Newton-meters) of torque. The Teshun Touring EV can charge to 80% in 40 minutes, although it is unclear at what percentage the charging process begins. The van can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) in around 15 seconds.
One of the most notable features of the Teshun Touring EV is its flexible loading space, with a range of 7 to 11 cubic meters (247 to 388 cubic feet). However, the maximum payload of the model is unknown.

Aside from the electric version, the JMC Teshun is also available with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, providing 122 horsepower (91 kilowatts). Prior to a facelift in 2021, a 2.4-liter gasoline engine was also available, but it has since been discontinued in favor of the battery-powered model.
Overall, the JMC Teshun Touring EV offers a modern take on the classic Ford Transit van, with an environmentally friendly electric powertrain and flexible loading space.
