Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01, an all-electric four-door grand tourer that marks the first production vehicle in the brand’s new era. The model is expected to launch in Germany at a starting price of €165,000, with orders scheduled to open in early 2027 and deliveries planned for the second half of the year.

The Type 01 follows Jaguar’s Type 00 concept and introduces the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), the platform underpinning the new model.

Jaguar Type 01 Features Low-Slung Four-Door Design

The Type 01 measures approximately 5.24 metres long, 2.00 metres wide and 1.41 metres tall, with a wheelbase of 3.20 metres.

Its exterior combines a low roofline, elongated proportions and large body surfaces with integrated door handles, sensors and cameras. The vehicle also uses digital mirrors in place of a conventional rear window.

The interior follows a minimalist layout. Equipment includes a 24-inch instrument display behind the steering wheel, a 7-inch vertical touchscreen on the centre console and controls on the steering wheel.

The rear cabin features two individual seats, with the centre console extending between them.

Electric Powertrain Produces 758 kW

The Type 01 uses an 850 V electrical architecture and an 118 kWh battery. Its three electric motors deliver a combined system output of 758 kW and 1,365 Nm of torque.

Jaguar estimates a driving range of up to approximately 720 km under moderate driving conditions. However, official WLTP range and energy consumption figures have not yet been published.

The vehicle’s battery capacity and powertrain are designed for the luxury grand touring segment, combining high output with a large onboard energy reserve.

Fast Charging Supports Long-Distance Travel

The Type 01 supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. Jaguar says the system can add enough energy for approximately 320 km of driving in 13 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

Actual charging performance and the distance added will depend on factors including battery temperature, the charging station and driving conditions.

The 850 V architecture forms part of the JEA platform, which makes its production debut with the Type 01.

German Launch Planned for 2027

Jaguar has announced a starting price of €165,000 for the Type 01 in Germany. Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with customer deliveries scheduled for the second half of the year.

“From its dramatic design to its captivating drive, Type 01 distils the essence of Jaguar into a luxury grand tourer for a new era. Type 01 is the foundation of this British brand, one that makes no compromise between design and engineering in our quest to create objects of desire, just as it was in the days of the E-type and XJS,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar.

The Type 01 will be produced in Solihull, UK, according to the supplied report. Its launch marks Jaguar’s return to production with an all-electric model as the company introduces its new design direction and vehicle architecture.
