IM Motors, the electric vehicle subsidiary of SAIC Motor, has officially launched the IM LS9, a large six-seat extended-range SUV (EREV), further expanding its lineup of hybrid models designed for China’s growing high-end EV market.

The IM LS9 is available in two versions — 52 Ultra and 66 Ultra — priced at RMB 322,800 ($45,360) and RMB 352,800, respectively, both lowered by RMB 14,000 from their pre-sale prices. Deliveries for the new model will begin later this month, with the automaker planning to introduce a high-performance IM LS9 Hyper variant in the first quarter of 2026.

The six-seat SUV measures 5,279 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, and 1,806 mm high, with a 3,160 mm wheelbase, and is powered by SAIC’s Hengxing extended-range system built on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture.

The model features CATL’s Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery, available in 52 kWh and 66 kWh capacities, offering CLTC ranges of 320 km and 402 km, respectively. The smaller pack uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, while the larger one employs ternary lithium cells.

When combining a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery, the IM LS9 achieves combined driving ranges of 1,454 km and 1,508 km, depending on the variant. It supports fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 16.5 minutes.

Power is delivered through a dual-motor setup, with rear motors producing 230 kW peak power. The front motors deliver 150 kW in the base model and 160 kW in the higher variant, resulting in a total output of up to 390 kW (523 horsepower) and 670 Nm of torque, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.9 seconds.

The IM LS9 also features an advanced 520-channel LiDAR system, one of the most powerful setups currently in Chinese electric vehicles. It runs on the Nvidia Thor AI chip and integrates the IM AD Max autonomous driving platform, developed in collaboration with Momenta, reinforcing IM Motors’ push toward intelligent driving technologies in the premium SUV segment.
